Every American should experience the changing of the guard at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier.  One can’t help but feel the power of the American spirit and our resolve to make the world a better place.

While we were in Washington, DC we got to witness the water feature being rebuilt in between the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Memorial.  Look closely and you’ll see the cranes in action just beyond the water.  This scene was captured with my Canon 17-40mm.  Increased saturation and cropping were courtesy of Lightroom 2.7.  Yes, I know I’m a version behind Winking smile.

Had the opportunity to visit this National Monument and witness a little blacksmithing.  This smithy was making a huge chisel for a fellow worker on the grounds.

Not everyone is going to get a picture of Mount Vernon under restoration.  In fact, most pictures seen won’t even give a hint as the effort necessary to maintain this national monument… but you’ll see it here!

After an amazing trip to the National Air and Space Museum in Chantilly, Virginia, one of my favorite planes, turned out to be the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird.  While not my favorite shot the light on the back half of the plan was amazing, not so on the front half!

For more information on the museum and it’s exhibits, check out the official site
